APPLE CAKE of Judy Brumley - Recipefy

3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1-1/4 cups vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup orange juice
2 cups unpaired apples, grated or finely cut
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup flaked coconut

BUTTERMILK SAUCE

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk

Prep. Time → 20 min

Cook Time → 90 min

1. Sift flour, soda, and cinnamon onto waxed paper.
Combine sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, and orange juice in large bowl.
Beat until well blended. Stir in flour mixture until mixed well.
Fold in apples, walnuts, and coconut.
Spoon into well greased and floured tube pan.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1-1/2 hours.
Cool on wire rack for 15 minutes.
Remove cake from pan to serving plate with a raised edge.
Puncture cake with toothpick or fork.
Cook buttermilk and sugar, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.
While hot, spoon buttermilk sauce over warm cake several times until all is absorbed.
