Baked Ziti of Karyn Johnson - Recipefy

1-16oz package ziti or penne pasta
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb spicy Italian sausage uncased
1 onion chopped
5 cloves crushed garlic
1 red pepper finely chopped
1 green pepper finely chopped
16oz package sliced fresh mushrooms
2-28oz jars Ragu
28oz can diced Tomatoes
cajun seasoning
spaghetti seasoning
dried onion flakes
6oz sliced provalone cheese
8oz shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta for 8-10 minutes. drain.

2. In a large pot, brown ground beef and sausage over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, add mushrooms, cook down. Add sauce and tomatoes, season with Cajun and spag seasoning. Add peppers, simmer for about 15 minutes.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

4. Mix the cooked pasta with at least 8 cups of the sauce.

5. In a 2 qt baking dish (11x15) place about half the pasta mixture; top with a layer of provalone, mozzarella and fresh chopped basil.

6. Cover with remaining pasta mixture, cheese and basil; finish with a layer of parmesan.

7. Bake for about 30 minutes or until cheese and sauce are bubbly.
