125g butter 55g caster sugar 180g plain flour 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Prep. Time → 30 min

Cook Time → 15 min

1. 1. Heat the oven to 190C/Gas Mark 5.

2. 2. Mix the butter and sugar together until smooth, then add the vanilla essence.

3. 3. Stir in the flour until you get a smooth paste. Turn on to a work surface and
roll out until thepaste is 1cm thick.

4. 4. Cut into fingers and place onto a baking tray. Sprinkle with icing sugar and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes. (dont forget to poke holes into the short breads)

5. 5. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until pale golden. Cool on a wire rack and serve.
