Kaalan of Kitchen Snippets - Recipefy

Raw banana-1 cut into medium sized cubes
Pepper powder-3/4 tspn
Turmeric powder-1/4- 1/2 tspn
Green chilli-1
Thick curd-1 3/4 cup
Coconut-3/4 cup
Cumin seeds/jeerakam-1/2 tspn
Fennel/uluva powder-1/4 tspn
Salt

For seasoning

Oil
Mustard seeds-1/4 tspn
Dry red chilli-2
Curry leaves

1. Mix the pepper powder in 1/4 cup hot water and strain it .In a deep pan ,pour the pepper water,banana pieces,sliced green chilli,turmeric powder and salt.Cover and cook till the banana pieces are cooked well( don't mash them ) .

2. Meanwhile grind coconut and cumin seeds to a very smooth paste.Keep aside.

3. When the bananas are cooked well,lower the flame and add curd ,mix well and stir continuously till the gravy becomes thick.Take care to keep the flame in lowest.

4. When thick,add the coconut paste,mix well ,stir for 1 more mint and remove from fire.Sprinkle fennel powder and mix well.

5. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.Add dry red chilli and curry leaves .Roast them till they changes colour.Remove from fire and pour into the kalan.Cover and let it set for 10-15 mints.
