Oktoberfest in Somers ( kielbasa and apple cider sauerkraut) of Alexandra Omalley - Recipefy

1) Kielbasa! ( I like to use turkey, as I like to substitute that for beef in 99% of my meals.) If you don't live near a polish or german deli, Hillshire Farms in the packaged deli meat section of the super market works.

2) Garlic clove

3) 1/2 large onion. ( red or yellow. I only had red one day, and I thought it tasted better!)

4) Cinnamon, to taste.

5) salt and pepper, to tase

6) pinch of nutmeg or red pepper flakes ( totally optional)

7) 1 Bag or can of sauerkraut ( drained).

8) 2 cups of apple cider. ( Im just assuming its two cups.. I pour enough to just about cover the sauerkraut and kielbasa.)

Prep. Time → less than 10 min

Cook Time → 35 min

1. Brown (cut up) kielbasa in a large ( and not too shallow, bc you will be adding sauerkraut and cider) skillet with onion and garlic, cinnamon, salt and pepper, and the pinch of nutmeg or red pepper ( if you're choosing to use).

2. Once browned, add the sauerkraut and pour the apple cider over everything. Just enough so that its saturated, but not drowning in it.

3. cover with the lid, and let it sit, simmering on low for a half hour.

4. uncover, and season some more if desired. cook for another 5 minutes before enjoying with pierogis, sour cream, and your favorite Oktoberfest brew.

“Im from NY, so I know how "real" chinese food tastes, my pizza better crack when i fold it, and it's a hero, NOT a hoagie. I hate recipes that call for such specific measurements, being that I don't own measuring cups or spoons. I watch the food networ”
