About 35 soda crackers
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 TSP vanilla
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

1. 1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, leave it sticking out so you can lift it out. Place a single layer of soda crackers, salt side up, on cookie sheet, some spaces between crackers is ok.

2. 2. In a saucepan, bring brown sugar and butter to a boil; boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. remove from heat, add vanilla. Pour over crackers, covering completely. Spread if necessary.

3. 3. Bake in preheated oven at 450° for about 4 or 5 minutes or until very bubbly. Watch that it doesn’t burn. When entire surface is bubbling, remove from oven.

4. 4. While hot, cover with chocolate chips. Let melt (about 5 minutes) and spread to cover surface.

5. 5. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, or leave plain.

6. 6. Refrigerate to harden, cut or break into pieces.
