TORRIJAS (SPANISH TOAST) of Jorge's Deli - Recipefy

Half a loaf of bread / baguette (more than a day old is best)
Half a Litre of Milk
1 x Stick of Cinnamon
Powdered Cinnamon
Whole Lemon Peel or Orange Peel
1 x Cup of Sugar
4 x Eggs
Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cook Time → 30 min

1. 1. Pour the milk in a saucepan and put on a medium heat. Add the sugar, the orange and lemon peel and a stick of cinnamon.

2. 2. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves and before it boils remove from the heat and let it set for 10 minutes.

3. 3. Slice the bread in slices of 2 cm each. You can also make shapes; we've gone for 'soldiers'.

4. 4. Heat the olive oil until ready to fry the mixture.

5. 5. Dip each slice of bread in the milk for 10 to 12 seconds.

6. 6. Whisk the eggs and then dip each slice of bread in the eggs completely

7. 7. Fry each slice in the hot oil. When each slice has a golden color on both sides remove from the oil and sprinkle with cinnamon powder!
