Caramel pie

1 1/2 cup sugar, divided use 2 1/2 cup milk 3 eggs, separated 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup flour

1. Stir sugar in 10 inch skillet over medium heat until syrup forms. Add milk, sugar crystals will form. Stir just until sugar crystals melt. Add well beaten egg yolks in a separate bowl, combine the remaining sugar and flour. Add it to the skillet mixture and stir until it thickens pour into a 9 inch baked pie shell. Meringue: 3 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 cup sugar Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy. Add sugar gradually and beat until stiff peaks form. Swirl on top of caramel filling. Bake in 400 oven for 8 to 12 minutes until topping begins to brown.
