1 (8 oz.) pkg. dried apples 1 quart water 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. water 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp. sugar 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 pastry recipe Oil Sugar

1. Combine apples and water in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cook uncovered, until mixture thickens. Stir in 1/2 cup sugar plus 2 Tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. Refrigerate overnight. Roll pastry onto a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 4 inch circles. Place about 1 Tbsp. apple mixture on the circle. Fold in half. Moisten edges with water. Press edges together with a fork dipped in flour. Heat 1/2 inch oil in large skillet. Cook pies. Sprinkle with sugar. Pastry: 2 cups self-rising flour 1 cup butter, softened 3/4 cup water Combine all. Mix well. Refrigerate overnight.
