2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted 2 Tbsp. instant coffee 1 ½ cups cake flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 ½ tsp. salt ½ cup shortening ½ cup margarine 2 cups sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 4 eggs 1 ½ cups pecans

1. Mix melted chocolate and coffee; cool. Sift cake flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening butter and gradually add sugar, beat till fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs, beat well. Blend in coffee mixture, dry ingredients and chopped nuts, stir well. Place in well greased and floured jelly roll pan or cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and spread with butter frosting. Butter Frosting: Heat ¼ cup butter will light brown and bubbly. Beat in 3 cups sifted powder sugar, 3 Tbsp. cream and 1 tsp. vanilla. Decorate with chopped pecans.
