Candied sweet potatoes

8 medium sweet potatoes
2/3 cup water
1-1/3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon molasses
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt and pepper to taste

Prep. Time → 30 min

Cook Time → 30 min

1. Cook potatoes in boiling water until tender. Drain and peel.

2. Cut in half lengthwise. Place cut side up in a greased 13- by 9-inch baking dish. Set aside.

3. Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil 6 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour over potatoes.

4. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes, basting frequently.
