Cape pondweed stew (tastes a lot like beans)

500g waterblommetjies
700g lamb knuckles or stewing lamb
25ml cooking oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
25ml flour
200ml dry white wine
200ml water
salt and pepper to taste
4 potatoes, peeled and halved
25ml fresh lemon juice

Prep. Time → 15 min

Cook Time → 110 min

1. Soak Cape pondweed (waterblommetjies) in salted water for one hour.

2. Brown meat in heated oil, add onion and saute until brown.

3. Drain Cape pondweeds and add half to the meat.

4. Sprinkle flour over and stir in.

5. Heat wine and water and add to meat.

6. Add seasoning, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 and a half hours until meat is tender.

7. Add remaining Cape pondweed to meat with potatoes and lemon juice.

8. Simmer for 20min until potatoes are cooked.

9. Do not stir more than necessary
