Chrissy's macaroni & cheese
Recipe by
1/2 package elbow macaroni
1/4 tsp. pepper
¼ cup unsalted butter
2 cups milk
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated (I use a (10oz) block of extra sharp NY cheddar)
¼ cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
Prep. Time → 15-20 min
Cook Time → 15-20 min
1. Preheat oven to 375º. Cook macaroni as instructed on package, drain.
Meanwhile, melt butter in med. saucepan and remove from heat. Stir in flour, salt, nutmeg and pepper until smooth.
2. Gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil, stirring. Reduce heat and simmer mixture 1 minute. Remove from heat.
3. Stir in 1 ½ cups cheese and the macaroni. Pour into a 1 ½ qt. shallow casserole. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top. Bake 15 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.
