Dried apple cake
Recipe by2 packages dried apples
1-3/4 cups water
4 to 5 tablespoons sugar
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 cup cold water
1 15-ounce box raisins
1 cup pecans, chopped
Prep. Time → 45 min
Cook Time → 60 min
1. Combine apples and 1-3/4 cups water. Cover and cook until water is absorbed. Cool slightly; add 4 to 5 tablespoons sugar; and set aside.
2. Combine brown sugar, butter and eggs in a large mixing bowel; beat well. Stir in apples.
3. Combine dry ingredients; add to the apple mixture, alternately with 1 cup cold water, beating well after each addition. Stir in raisins and pecans.
4. Pour batter into a greased 13- by 9-inch baking pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees or until done.
