Grandma janice's ham and bean soup

1 lb great northern whit beans
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups ham
1 onion chopped
2 ribs celery chopped
2 carrots chopped
Cook Time → 90 min
1. Cover beans with cold water and let soak overnight. Drain beans. Add chicken broth, ham, celery, carrots and cook for 1 1/2 hours. add 2 bay leaves. Add salt after beans are done (1 tsp seaon salt and a dash of tabasco sauce. Add 6-8 strips bacon cooked well. Ad after cooked 1 potato diced and cooked. Puree 1/2 of soup. add back to soup and cook a total of 1 1/2 hours. can add 1/2 cup chili sauce or ketchup
