Kadalaparippu/Channa dal-1 cup
Pachari/white rice-1 cup
Ginger-1tspn grated
Green chillies-2 chopped
Small onion-3 chopped
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Hing/ asafoetida/kayam- a pinch
Coriander leaves-2 tblspn
Salt
Oil-for frying
1. Soak kadalaparippu and white rice in water for atleast 1 hour
2. After soaking grind them together into a paste by adding enough water( consistency should be of dosa/idli batter; no need to grind them to a smooth paste, its good to have some crunches)
3. Put all the other ingredients ( except oil ) to the batter and mix well.Keep aside for 10 mints.
4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and pour a ladle full of batter to it.Fry on both sides till brown ( in low-medium flame ).Repeat the same with remaining batter also.You can make 10-12 nos with this batter.
5. Serve hot with white coconut chutney.
6. Notes:For making white chutney, grind together 1/2 cup coconut,1 small onion,1 green chilli and salt in a grinder by adding little water.
