Spiced pumpkin bread with orange cream cheese

1/3 cup (2/3 stick) butter or margarine, softened 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 cup solid pack pumpkin 1 egg 1 3/4 cups flour 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp, cinnamon 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup dried currants 1/2 cup pecans

1. Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light; add pumpkin and egg, mixing well. In medium bowl, combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and baking powder; gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until well blended. Stir in currants and pecans. Pour batter into greased 8x4 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 15 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack. Serve with Ornage Cream Cheese. ORANGE CREAM CHEESE: In a med. bowl, combine 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened, 3 Tbsp. sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. orange peel; stir until smooth. Stir in 1 to 2 tsp. milk to make spreading consistency.
