Vegetable Puttu/ Steamed vegetable rice cake of Kitchen Snippets - Recipefy

Rice flour- 3 cup
Grated coconut-1/2 cup
Salt
Warm water

For veg filling

Carrots-2 cut into small cubes
Beans-1/4 cup chopped
Potato-1 big cut into small cubes
Onion-1 small chopped finely
Ginger-1 tblpsn
Green chillies-2 chopped
Red chilli powder-1/4 tspn
Coriander powder-1/4 tspn
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Garam masala-1/4 tspn
Salt
Oil

1. Take a bowl and mix together rice flour and salt mix well.Now sprinkle warm water to the flour little by little and mix with your fingers.Don't add too much water.The flour should be crumbly and moist.( like that of moist bread crumbs ) .
Then add the grated coconut to it and mix well.Keep aside. ( The perfect combination of water and rice powder gives the good result).

2. Steam cook the vegetables.

3. Heat 1 tblspn oil in a pan and add chopped onions,ginger and green chillies.Saute for 1 mint.Then add the masala powders in low flame.Mix well and add the cooked vegetables.Mix well,sprinkle enough salt,cover and keep in lowest flame for about 2-3 mints.Remove from fire.

4. Put 2 tblspn prepared rice flour into the puttu maker,followed by 1 tblspn of masala.Repeat till the puttu maker is full.Cover with lid.( make sure that the puttu maker is not tightly packed; after filing don't press it with spoon or your fingers ).Steam cook for about 5 mints.Remove it from the puttu maker and serve steaming hot!!!.

5. Notes: You can use wheat flour or ragi flour for making puttu.
