Dauphinoise Potatoes of tania chomicz - Recipefy

1kg potatoes sliced fairly thinly
300ml cream
300ml milk
3 cloves garlic peeled
Butter
Salt and freshly ground pepper
Small amount of grated parmesan or gruyere (not too much or you will end up with an oily dish)
Sprinkle of nutmeg (optional)

Prep. Time → 15 min

Cook Time → 90 min

1. Put the cream, milk and garlic into a saucepan and warm gently

2. Butter a large shallow roasting dish

3. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees C

4. Put the sliced potatoes into the milk/cream mixture and gently simmer for 10 minutes

5. Remove the potatoes to a dish with a slotted spoon

6. Extract the garlic and discard

7. Layer the potatoes in the buttered dish, seasoning after each layer

8. Pour on the sauce and sprinkle with a small amount of parmesan or gruyere and a small sprinkling of nutmeg

9. Bake in the oven for 1.5 hours so moistness is retained and top starts to brown
