Yankee pancakes

1 cup flour 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 cup oatmeal 2 eggs 2 cups buttermilk 1/2 cup oil

1. Blend together in a large mixing bowl the dry ingredients. Beat eggs and add buttermilk and oil. Add liquids to dry ingredients. Pour onto a heated griddle. Use approximately 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. This batter is slightly thick and may take longer to cook than ordinary pancakes. Serve immediately with warm orange syrup. Yield 12 to 14 pancakes. Orange Syrup: Mix in a small saucepan 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup Karo, white 1/2 cup orange juice 1 cup sugar Bring to boil. Cook 3 to 5 minutes. Serve warm. Store in refrigerator.
